Maritime Education

The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate, encourages learning throug
h discovery.

Hands-on, experiential learning is the hallmark of museum education. Here it quite simply is our method. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education, known to many by its acronym STEM, are important in our “classroom” and sunshine state standards are never ignored.

Here at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum, an education and museum arm of the First Light Maritime Society, students range in age from the very young to the almost professional and beyond.

Not only does the museum educate on-site, we reach out to those who cannot always bring their classroom to ours. Please, browse our programs and teacher resources, and ask how we can help open student’s eyes to a new world of maritime sciences and history!
